NSW Region v Region

What is Region v Region?

Region v Region (RvR) is an important step on the athlete development pathway between representing your Club and representing New South Wales.

Established during the 2020/21 season, Region v Region provides paddlers, drummers and sweeps with the opportunity to experience representative racing, develop their skills in a performance-focused environment, expand their Dragon Boat network and gain exposure to NSW State Team coaches.

For our regional members in particular, RvR provides an opportunity to experience representative and performance pathways closer to home before considering the next step of representingNSW or Australia.

Whether this is your first representative experience or you are a seasoned State athlete, Region v Region is an opportunity to represent your region, race alongside members from other clubs and continue developing your skills.

Why Should I Nominate?

Region v Region is about opportunity, development and representing your region.

Whether you are considering representative Dragon Boating for the first time or have previously represented NSW, there are plenty of reasons to get involved:

  • Represent your Region and race alongside paddlers from clubs across your area.
  • Take your first step into representative Dragon Boating in a supportive environment.
  • Experience a higher level of training and racing beyond your regular Club environment.
  • Train with different paddlers, coaches, sweeps and drummers and learn from their experience.
  • Develop your skills and race knowledge while challenging yourself in a new environment.
  • Meet and build connections with members from other Clubs across your Region.
  • Gain exposure to the NSW State Team pathway and better understand what may be involved in taking the next step.
  • Put yourself on the radar of State coaches if representing NSW is something you would like to pursue.
  • Share your experience if you are already a State or experienced representative athlete and help support developing members within your Region.
  • Most importantly, enjoy the experience of representing your Region and being part of a crew working towards a common goal.

You don't need to consider yourself an elite athlete to nominate. Region v Region is a development opportunity, and we encourage members of different experience levels to put their hand up and give it a go.

If you have nominated for the NSW State Team, we strongly encourage you to participate in Region v Region as part of your ongoing representative development.
