A database revolution is coming!

A database revolution is coming! 26th April 2016 After extensive community feedback to the board of directors and staff members on the current database system (Smartspace) an important decision was made by the DBNSW board at its February meeting. From July 1st 2016 the Smartspace database system will no longer be used by DBNSW. For the 2016/17 season and onwards DBNSW will utilise RevolutioniseSPORT provided by thinkrelativity. The system was chosen after an investigation into the current capabilities of the DBNSW database system as well as extensive research of other database providers. One of the most important aspects when choosing an alternative provider was that the system had to not only provide effective member and regatta management but do so in a way that was simple and easy to use by staff, clubs and members. As a result RevSport became the chosen sport management partner of DBNSW for the foreseeable future. Frequently Asked Questions How will this impact our club? For the 2016/17 season onwards all DBNSW members will be registered and their state body fees collected via a RevSport system. Clubs will be provided with their own personalised RevSport module. Through this module clubs can; ï‚· Keep an online register of all their members ï‚· Keep track of members coaching, officiating and sweep accreditation ï‚· Collect individuals club fees (online payment portal, invoicing of individual members) ï‚· Enter teams into a DBNSW regatta ï‚· Host a club website (incl. club details, membership sign up, event registration, online shop, etc.) ï‚· And much more! ‘DBNSW Leading the Way’ When will the RevSport system be ready? The sport management platform is almost ready for launch on July 1st! Fortunately thinkrelativity has already been providing Dragon Boats Victoria with a RevSport system for a full season and thus many features have been designed and tested by their dragon boat community already. We hope that a few enthusiastic clubs will be willing to test out the new system prior to the training roadshows. When will training be provided to clubs? As part of the upcoming road show (June/July) DBNSW will be hosting RevSport training sessions for club membership registrars in each of the four regions. Date and locations will be confirmed over the next month or so. DBNSW highly recommends that any member that will be involved with the system attend the sessions. Those who are unable to attend these sessions will be provided with a recording of one of the Sydney based classes. Bringing a laptop or tablet device is also highly recommended. Will there be any additional costs for clubs to use RevSport? No. Like the current system all the features and modules provided via the RevSport system will be included within the annual club membership fee. Do clubs have to use all of the RevSport system’s features? No. The only requirements for clubs when it comes to the use of the RevSport system is a) keeping an online register of current members and b) entering teams for DBNSW organised regattas. All other features can be used at the discretion of the club. I have a few other questions… Please feel free to email any other questions you have related to the new system.
