NSW Region v Region

2024 NSW Region v Region Regatta

What is Region v Region?

Region v Region is the step on the athlete development pathway between representing your club and representing your State. The concept was established during the 2020/21 season to encourage new paddlers to explore representative opportunities, compete at a High-Performance regatta, expand their Dragon Boat network, and put themselves on the radar of the State Team coaches. Region v Region particularly encourages our Regional Paddlers to explore High-Performance opportunities in their local region before putting their hand up to represent NSW or Australia. The Region v Region competition is held as a part of the NSW State Championships in 2024.

There are 6 regions;

  • Bank Street (ACCA, Blackwattle Bay, BlueFins, CYL, Different Strokes, DAS, FFB, Pacific Dragons, St. Scholastica, Sydney Tsunami, Sydney Zodiacs & The Sloths)
  • Sydney Metro (Bei Loon, Danebank, DSA, Easts, Port Stephens, Marist, Northern Beaches, Pendragons, Pittwater, Port Hacking, Ryde & Sandy Point)
  • Hawkesbury-Hunter (Central Coast, Deepwater, Hawkesbury River, Hunter River & Newcastle Hunter)
  • Northern (Ballina, Camden Haven, Clarence Coast, Coffs Coast, Flamin' Dragons, Grafton, Great Lakes, Kalang River, Manning River, Nambucca River, Namoi, Rainbow Region, South West Rocks & Wallis Spirit)
  • Southern (Illawarra, Lake Jindabyne, Mako, Merimbula, Narooma, Nature Coast, Nowra & Sudu)
  • Western (Bathurst, Bidgee, Colour City, DABM, Forbes, Lithgow, Mudgee, Outback, Parkes, Pinnacle & The Blue Mountains)

We encourage all paddlers, drummers and sweeps to nominate to represent your region, whether this is your first time or you're a seasoned Australian Aurora. This event is the first step in your representative Dragon Boat journey, so if you have dreams of representing NSW and Australia in the future, then register your interest below.

If you have applied for the NSW State Team we encourage you to participate at Region v Region.

Coaches & Team Managers

It's not just our paddlers, drummers and sweeps who benefit from this step in our pathway. Region v Region is an opportunity for coaches and team managers who have aspirations of coaching NSW & Australia in the future. Dragon Boat NSW will buddy you up with the NSW State Coach to mentor you and provide you with guidance as you coach your regional crew. We encourage all coaches with coaching accreditation who want to take their coaching to the next level to apply.
