Invitation to Point Wolstoncroft Weekend

Published Mon 02 Mar 2020

Point Wolstoncroft Weekend (Race 4) – Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March 2020

DBNSW is very excited to be having dragon boat racing for the first time at Point Wolstoncroft on the Central Coast. It is a beautiful spot and has enormous potential to be a fantastic venue for regattas for many years to come. The venue was chosen after frequent feedback from our members who were wanting new places to race.

This site and regatta can only be a success with member support. DBNSW encourages all clubs to disseminate the event information below and start planning the day trip or make it a weekend getaway for what should be a fun weekend of racing in the lead up to AusChamps.

Format

As well as trailing a new venue DBNSW is also exploring new race formats. For the first time we will be trailing a split of Junior/Prem racing and the Senior racing on different days.

On Saturday morning 200m sprints for the juniors will take place followed by 2k racing in the afternoon. On Sunday the senior categories will be run with 200m in the morning and 2k in the afternoon.

Please note even with the split days Master paddlers (40+) are more than welcome, and in fact encouraged, to participate in the premier racing on Saturday (Premier Mixed, Open & Women). Given the paddler entry fee covers both days of racing master paddlers have a fantastic opportunity to get plenty of racing in.

Saturday – 200m sprints, 2km turn racing (Junior/Premier) – est. 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday – 200m sprints, 2km turn racing (Senior) – est. 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Categories (all 200m & 2k) – Premier Mixed (all age), Premier Open (all age), Premier Women (all age), Junior Mixed (U18), Junior Open (U18), Junior Women (U18), Senior B Mixed (50+), Senior A Mixed (40+), Senior A Women (40+) and Senior Open (40+)

We also intend on organising a small post-race function to present the 2019/20 DBNSW recognition awards. More details to follow.

Finally all results are counted towards the 2019/20 Regatta Series Competition Table.
