National Pride Come and Try Weekend

Published Mon 11 Jul 2022

Earlier this year AusDBF was fortunate enough to be part of the Pride in Sport Collaborative Grant with 12 other national sports. One of the requirements of the grant is each sport must run a come and try day.

AusDBF in partnership with each of the State Members, have agreed to run the National Pride Come and Try Weekend on the 17/18 September 2022. Clubs can decide which date works better for them.

To be part of this exciting initiative and the opportunity to recruit new members for your club, each club is required to complete an expression of interest which can be completed via this link.

Deadline for submitting an expression of interest closes 31 July. This will give us time to work with each club to ensure all they have all the collateral before September.

AusDBF is supporting the National Pride Come and Try weekend initiative by providing each signed-up club with marketing and resources – such as

  • Banners clubs can display to promote the day
  • Merchandising
  • Social media tiles
  • Funding for BBQ

Clubs (Coaches and Committees) will be required to complete the Play-by-the-Rules LGBTI+ training prior to the Come and Try day. We will also arrange zoom training to ensure that Clubs are prepared for the day, especially around how to approach conversations for those that identify as Non-Binary or other gender.

We are looking forward to driving our first National Diversity and Inclusion event with you and increase participation within the sport that we all love.
