NEW SWEEP REGISTRATION PROCESS

Published Wed 23 Mar 2022

Hello Clubs & Paddlers,

DBNSW and the Sweep Coordinator Group (SCG) have been working on some administrative updates on how new sweeps get registered and start their sweeping journey.

Updated Process

As part of this update a new sweep registration form can now be found on the DBNSW website under the event calendar. Once registered this information is passed on to the local sweep coordinator and AusDBF.

You can click here and below to view the updated Sweep Accreditation Procedures in Flow Chart form kindly provided by Coordinator Catherine Anderson.

Further information on sweeping including the current NSW Sweep Regulations can be found on the dbnsw website here.

AusDBF and First Aid Requirements

The Sweep Coordinator Group is currently considering adopting the AusDBF Sweep Regulations to replace the existing NSW regulations.

If adopted it will be expected that all sweeps (both new and existing) must obtain current first aid certification as part of their sweep accreditation. The SCG will provide further notice if it becomes mandatory which may also include a grace period for current sweeps to obtain their first aid certificate.

In the meantime DBNSW recommends sweeps keep an eye out for first aid course opportunities.

2022 AusChamps

Finally for any club and sweep who will be attending the upcoming AusChamps in Adelaide please take note of the recently released Bulletin 2 which includes a number of requirements including;
  • Mandatory Vaccination for all participants
  • Sweeps must supply and wear a PFD while racing (no exemptions)
  • Participants must have undertaken a capsize drill this season
  • Paddler Declaration signed, completed and handed in at AusChamps by all participants
